Chapter 1- Off to Canada
“Suraj,” called his mother to Suresh by his nickname. “Suraj beta, have you taken your gloves and caps and sweaters and mufflers. I’m warning you, it’s gonna be very cold in Canada. I bet you’ve forgotten to take your books and copies. Don’t forget that you will have to study there.” Suresh sighed.
“Yes mummy, I haven’t forgotten,” snapped an irritated Suresh. You must know that just like most children, even this boy didn’t like studying.
It was his vacations going on and they were going to Ottawa in Canada. So they reached the airport, got on the airplane, and it took off.
Let me tell you that Suresh was an eight-year-old creative and adventurous boy who lived with his family of four members (including Suresh, himself) in India. He lived with his parents and grandmother. They lived somewhere in the east of India.
Suresh was good in studies even though he didn’t like studying. The best time he would find to play and rest were his summer and winter vacations. He would get bored with the monotonous routine and would wait eagerly for his holidays.
Canada was quite far away from India. It would take a long time to reach. Everyone was excited, but Chetan was the most. He was travelling by air for the first time. He was amazed when he looked down. Their enormous city looked extremely small. Those little buildings! They looked like tiny insects! But he couldn’t see his own house.
The time passed in a blur and they reached Canada. They had got there sooner than they expected.
Very soon, they reached their hotel, which was in a pleasant place near a park. They had a good view of a small part of Ottawa. It was a large city.
“Canada is a large country,” Suresh said looking at a world map.
“Yes it’s huge,” his Mom said.
“It is much bigger than our country,” he said comparing Canada with India.
“Look, here’s Ottawa,” his Mom pointed.
“It looks small in a map.”
“Yes, but in reality it’s huge.”
They stayed in Canada for six days and five nights. They enjoyed themselves a lot. Finally, on the sixth day, they left for the airport. On their way, Suresh saw a souvenir shop.
They entered the shop. It had many magical things. They bought a magic pen and continued their way to the airport.
Chapter 2- The Little People
When they reached home, the first thing that Suresh did was to bring a sheet of paper. He took his magical pen and he neatly drew a piece of chocolate cake. And lo and behold! The
cake became real! Suresh tasted it. Its taste was marvelous. He then drew a remote control car. The car became real as well. He had a lot of fun playing with it. Suresh drew many other things and each of them became real. He was a good artist. After some time, a splendid idea struck Suresh’s mind. He wanted to make an enormous city. But he couldn’t draw such a big place. So he decided to make some little people. He was also a very good doodler.
He started his drawing. He drew some cute, little cartoons, all of different shapes and sizes. But neither of them was very large. Most of them were as tall as Suresh’s palm. Some of them were as big as Suresh’s face. It took him hours to make all of them. He also shaded them, all with different colours, for he wanted his city to look colourful.
Finally, he finished creating his cartoons. They all looked wonderful. Each of them wore fine, blue suits with black ties that had little, white spots. They also wore smart trousers
that were black in colour.
They could talk, move, run, and do most of the things that humans can do. Even though they were small in size, they were not at all scared of the four feet five inches tall boy sitting right next to them. They were very well-behaved. Seeing their creator, they bowed their heads before him and saluted him.
They needed a place to live. Suresh had a huge garden. So thinking that it would be the best place for the little souls to live, he kept them in the garden. His garden was enormous
and had enough place to make a city. They also needed names. ‘They are small. So why not name them ‘Mini-mons?’ Suresh thought. So he named them Minimons.
Those days, Suresh remained very busy. He would draw animals, buildings, vehicles and other things. He also made them a flag. It had a star in the middle and a few designs around it.
Now they had their own laws and rules, government, and different states, cities, districts, towns and villages. They were very wise, clever, honest, respectful and skillful. They were so intelligent, that they could make most of the things that you can possibly imagine. One of them was the health drink, or the life drink. It would be given to dead people so that they could be cured. You would rightly call it an elixir of life. They were a hundred times better than our Earth, after a century.
Suresh would spend a lot of time talking and playing with the Minimons. But some days later, he couldn’t visit them as his examinations were coming up and he had a lot to prepare.
Chapter 3- To the Rescue
Minimonland was a happy place. Everybody lived happily and had no complaints or problems. But then came a day when something terrible happened.
Buzz was a very kind, helpful and polite citizen of Minimonland and he would always help the old, poor and needy. That morning, when Buzz’s friend came to visit him, he found the main door w wide open. He searched for him in ide the whole house but could not find him. Then he saw a letter stuck on the gate. He read the note aloud:
“You will not see that fellow again! I have taken him with me… forever!”
He was shocked to hear the news and immediately informed the police. The police with some other people went in search of Buzz. Buzz used to wear very peculiar shoes that left strange marks on the ground.
Following those marks, they reached an unknown place. It was strange but beautiful. There was a board which said:
WELCOME TO DINOLAND
There were little people like them. They questioned the people whether they had seen any little boy with a blue suit and black tie with white spots and also a black trouser. They also had a picture of Buzz which they showed the people. But nobody had seen Buzz. At last, they found him.
They found him tied with a rope. He was encircled by a group of four or five men. They wondered how they could rescue him.
Then their eyes fell upon something that seemed to be useful. It was an airplane. It was a little smaller than Suresh’s leg.
One of the policemen said that he could fly the airplane. He got into the cockpit. Another one got on the other seat. The others sat behind them. He slowly flew the airplane and stopped over Buzz’s head. The other policeman quickly got hold of Buzz and took him in the airplane. Then he flew it away.
“We will see you next time!” said the group of people.
Everybody was happy that he had returned. But the happiness didn’t last long.
Chapter 4- Dinoland
Few days later some people attacked Minimonland. They looked like terrorists. They killed many people and burned trees and buildings.
The policemen and the army men weren’t very powerful and couldn’t do anything. Unfortunately, there were very few weapons. They had come from Dinoland to take revenge. They destroyed the whole place and went away in a fighter plane, laughing.
Next day, Suresh came to meet the Minimons. He was shocked to see the situation. They Minimons told him the whole story.
After listening to the story, Suresh turned red with anger. He decided to make many weapons. So he set to work and made guns, swords, spears, hammers, bows and arrows, bombs, missiles and cannons. Many people had been killed. So he made many other people; and all of them were strong, muscular and sinewy. He made them smart and handsome. They were made to fight for Minimonland. He also made some strong robots. Then he decided to make some buildings for them to live in. Many of the buildings had collapsed or were burnt. So he made some extra houses and buildings and also some trees.
Then he gave the people some special tactics, that seemed to be useful. He gave them skills. He told them when and how to attack.
But before they could attack, they were themselves attacked- this time by people of Dragonland. They were two times stronger than the army of Minimonland. So again they were defeated.
Suresh made more weapons and strong people.
First, the people decided to conquer Dinoland and then Dragonland. So they set out to attack Dinoland. Seeing their large army, the people of Dinoland surrendered. They were very scared. Already the people of Minimonland had destroyed a large part of Dinoland. Now they felt pity for them and let them go.
Both cities decided to become friends. The Captain of Minimonland’s army, Blacky, told the other army about Dragonland and about their attack on them.
“Oh do they attack Minimonland also?” said Dinoland’s army, Boom.
“What do you mean by also?” questioned Blacky.
“Once they also attacked Dinoland,” said Boom. “And we both are enemies. Let me tell you something. Dragonland had once given money to a place called Rhinoland because they needed a lot more soldiers and weapons to conquer other places. So, all the soldiers in Rhinoland’s army joined Dragonland’s army. So they are double. We can join your team, if you agree. Then we’ll improve our army and attack Dragonland. Do you agree?”
Blacky approved of his idea and took everybody to Chetan, who improved their skills and made some more army men and weapons. Suresh then made some super-strong men, giants and monsters. They were really very large. He also made wild animals such as tigers, lions, dinosaurs, dragons, bears, anacondas, rhinoceros and wolves.
Chapter 5- Strategy
“Now let me tell you our strategy,” said Suresh softly. “We will give them a surprise attack. We will attack them at midnight when everyone is asleep. I have kept many reserves. The reserves will attack if the other army has much more soldiers than us, or when the other soldiers get tired or injured. The reserves will hide behind trees or bushes. And after some time when Blacky gives an action, some of the animals will come into action and pounce on the enemy soldiers. Not only the army, but everyone will have to fight for Minimonland and Dinoland. I have also designed special outfits and shields for you all, even for the animals. And I have also made tanks and fighter planes.
Now let me tell you about your positions. The super-strong men will be at the front. The tanks will be behind them. Behind them will be the rhinoceroses, wolves, bears and anaconda. The army men will be behind them, followed by the other citizens. Behind them will be dragons and dinosaurs. The fighter planes will be up in the sky. The tigers and lions will be hiding behind bushes and will attack together when the army is not working well. Captain Blacky will give you action, as I had said before. The reserves will be standing with them.
Some people will be in charge of bombs, missiles and cannons. The monsters can jump a long way will be on the opposite side, behind our enemy’s army, just like we are playing kabaddi. Those of you standing behind the army, will fight with them from the backside and will not come in the front, unless it is very important. So this is our strategy. I will not be able to visit you anymore, for Mummy has called me. She wants me to do some work and then study. Now it’s half-past four. You must leave seven hours later at eleven thirty and reach there by twelve. Okay, best of luck.” Saying this he ran away.
Chapter 6- Every Problem has a Solution
The souls much time. So they decided to go to the gym and work-out. Some of them did weight-lifting, planks and pushups, while some did jogging and cycling. They also practised archery and shooting. Some of them also did fencing. There were also many punch bags for them to do some boxing.
Three hours went away in a jiffy. They went back home to sleep for three or four hours, as they wouldn’t be able to sleep that night. They slept peacefully, but when they woke up, they found them in the dustbin! It was dark, dirty and smelly. Two or three of them stuck their ears to the dustbin and listened. Out of the dustbin came an angry voice, “I have told him a billion times not to keep his toys lying on the floor. But he never listens to me. That will teach him a lesson. Now I’ve thrown all his toys in the dustbin. Now onwards, he’ll keep his toys in the right place after playing with them.” It was Suresh’s mom.
“Hey, now what? What’ll we do now?” asked one of the people. “We don’t have any weapons with us to make a hole in this bin. We had kept them safely inside a box which is outside.”
They saw a tiny hole- so tiny, that they couldn’t even put their hand outside it. So they peeked out through it. There they saw little Benjamin sleeping! Benjamin was a small boy, who lived in Minimonland. He was very short. People called him Ben. He was lucky, as Suresh’s mom hadn’t seen him, or else, he would be in the dustbin.
Benjamin was in a deep sleep and was snoring loudly. They tried to wake him up. Waking him up wasn’t so easy. It was as difficult, as climbing Mount Everest. With great difficulty, they managed to wake him up.
“At last, we managed to do it!” said Blacky with a little smile on his face.
They asked Ben to somehow get them out of there. It was eleven already. The Minimons were very punctual and didn’t want to waste even a second’s time. They just had half an hour and had to do something fast.
They asked Ben to get a sword from the box that was kept on a big rock. They wanted him to make a hole on the bin with that sword so that they could get out.
Ben tried his best to get hold of the box on the rock. But because of his small height, he could not do that.
He did everything he could, but he wasn’t successful. At last he came upon an idea. He saw a stone, which was very heavy for Ben. With all his might he threw the stone, which hit the center of the bin.
“Earthquake!” everyone shouted, as the dustbin fell down and the lid opened.
Everyone was glad that they were safe. They were happy with Benjamin and praised him.
But they were late. It was more than half-past eleven. So they ran as fast as they could and they reached Dragonland before twelve. They hid behind bushes, trees and buildings.
When they thought that everybody was asleep, they quietly crept and attacked Dragonland and Rhinoland.
Chapter 7- War
Minimonland and Dinoland were fighting well at first and had burnt everything in their city- buildings, trees, and everything. But Dragonland’s army had much more army men than those of Minimonland’s army. And then, more came. This time there were animals, ghosts and robots. They all had magic powers. One of the ghosts opened the lid of a bottle and then fumes came out from it. The fumes were very strong and anyone who would smell it would fall asleep for years. All the people, monsters, giants and animals smelled them and fell into a deep sleep.
Only one of the people was able to save himself as he had covered his mouth and nose with his handkerchief. He was hiding on the roof of a house. Actually, he was a very aged man who had a stick in his hand. He was perhaps more than eighty. Even though the man was more than eighty, he was totally fit and fine, as he would exercise regularly. He was also karate, kung-fu, boxing, wrestling, and martial arts champion.
Just as the fumes disappeared, he jumped from the top of the house on some of the army men. He tossed his stick high up into the air and began to beat all the army men. One of the army men’s also tried to hit him, but the old man said, “How dare you try to hit an old person who is sixty years older than you?” And saying this, he slapped the man so hard, then he fell about half a mile away from him. Then the old man found some ninja stars or shurikens lying on the ground. He picked them up and tossed them on the enemies.
Then he shouted something in a different language to give a signal. Then many arrows came flying and killed many of the people. Next, some bombs were thrown by some of the people of Minimonland, who were not on the battlefield and had not fallen asleep by those harmful fumes. The war was a long one.
Chapter 8- Happy Again
At last, all their enemies were killed and the battle was won. But still, the old man and the other people were not happy as so many people had fallen into such a deep sleep, that they were snoring loudly. Their snores seemed to be as loud as a lion’s roar. The old man was sobbing. All the other men surrounded the sleeping people with a sad face.
Just then something rolled and hit the old man’s foot. He picked it up. It was a bottle with something wobbling inside. The man opened the lid and once again the place was filled with fumes. But this one was a bit different from the first one. The first one made people fall asleep, but this one was used to wake people up!
And soon everyone woke up. Everyone was very happy. But one of the people who was sleeping, began to weep. When they asked him the reason, the man began to laugh. He said that he just had a nightmare. He had dreamt that Minimonland had lost the battle. Hearing this, everyone burst into laughter. But they saw that the old man wasn’t happy. They asked him the reason and the man pointed to the people of Dragonland and Rhinoland. They found them lying dead with blood oozing out from their bodies. The place was filled with rivers of blood. The people felt sad for them and prayed for those people. But just then little Ben thought of the life drink they had prepared.
Then they came back to Minimonland and those belonging to Dinoland went back to their city. It was dawn by then. The people were happy. They lit firecrackers in joy and happiness. They told everything to Suresh and he was very satisfied with their achievement. All three places became very close friends.
Later, the three places joint together to make one large country. This country had three states, Minimonland, Dinoland and Rhinoland. And these states had many cities. The name of this vast place was kept Mirhidi. But do you know why? Mi stands for Minimonland, Rhi for Rhinoland, Di for Dinoland. The three places shared their thoughts and technologies and ideas with one another. They were a developed country now, with a large population of ten thousand or so. They also had to find a larger place, for now, this place was very small for the little people.
Several years passed and the old man was now the oldest man in the world with the help of their health drink. He was a hundred and thirty now. Little Ben was now a grown-up man. He was now fifty-five and he had been elected as the Prime Minister also.
From then, everyone began to live happily, which made Suresh very pleased. No one would ever fight again. Mirhidi was now filled with joy and love and there was no sorrow or hatred.
